How to get PR for your shoe brand
You know that getting your shoe brand featured in print or online publications can boost sales. PR gets you noticed, and every link to your website increases your site’s SEO strength. That means your customers will find your footwear brand more easily on Google. This blog post is all about how to get PR for your shoe brand, and it starts much earlier than you might think.
The easiest way to get PR is to create the kind of shoe brand journalists like to talk about. For example, last year a consultancy client of mine had his running shoe brand Bahé featured in an article all about vegan and sustainable running shoes. It wasn’t a coincidence that he created the kind of brand journalists wanted to write about. My client looked at the emerging topics on people’s minds and incorporated them into his brand from the start. When deciding what kind of sneakers to produce, he considered the habits of Bahé’s target customers and the issues which would be close to their hearts now and in the future.
Predicting the future isn’t easy. It requires you to take several steps back from focusing on your shoe designs. Ask your target customers what they care about and what worries them about the future. Look at macro issues. Read a newspaper. Attend the trend presentations at footwear trade shows such as Lineapelle and MICAM. Also, look at Google search terms which are growing in popularity (‘rising’ in Google speak) by heading to Google Trends and clicking ‘Explore’.
As a consultant for start-up shoe brands, I keep abreast of macro trends which will affect my clients now and in the future. I also have the privilege of seeing patterns in new shoe brand concepts. Your idea doesn’t have to be totally unique. Other entrepreneurs will create their version of a shoe brand concept, attracting a different type of customer. Your precursors may even open doors for you. Journalists and customers will know it’s worth writing about or searching for a particular type of shoe.
If you would like my help to create a shoe brand that journalists want to talk about and customers want to wear, feel free to get in touch. Your shoe brand PR strategy starts now.
